I did wander back around '75, the motivation, fear.
No fear now, I am free.
....just not free of the quagmire of having a JW wife, parents, kids, friends and extended family.
did you feel that you were made to become a witness through coercion, threats or other means?
if you did not feel forced to become a jw, why did you stay??
?

Very similar to Tinkerbell, "Not while you are living under my roof!!" was a common threat.
I escaped home at 16 without a dunking.
Hi Xena, You're looking lovely today, love the dress. What did you get up to on the weekend?
This is typical patter from a good friend of mine of twenty five years. He is always polite and friendly and interested in you, and has no trouble making friends wherever he goes. I try to follow his example, it works.
It also helps if you get involved with people. Offering to help help someone (or a group) on the weekend with some chore can expand your circle a bit.
I am pretty much rootless, having moved a lot during my youth. Most of my schoolmates were not JWs so I didn't keep contact with them. My old JW mates, I don't go out of my way to visit now. I should, really. It would be interesting to see if I got invited back. I have never been DFd or DAd as I avoided the sheep dip.
Fortunately, blood is thicker than religion in my family (all my grandparents were JW and many of their descendants are/were) and we all get on well, but we are well spread around the planet now so we don't see each other as often as we like. There was a time when the black sheep of the family were avoided, but commonsense has prevailed now.
...and you are looking lovely today
How was your weekend?
.
gosh, there are so many new persons here; i feel terrible that i simply don't have the time to write to all of you.
i'm really glad you're here, and appreciate all the questions/insights/smiles you bring to the board.. rosemarie
Thanks Rosemarie
I have only been here a little while and have already gained new insights into what goes on in the heads of other EXs, (if I can call myself an ex, I avoided the sheep dip).
Some of the stories here are real tear jerkers and my heart goes out to them.
It seems that there is much variance in the way people are treated in different congregations. I seem to have been fortunate in that regard.
I am not giving my name as I am currently treated as harmless by my many JW friends and family and I intend to keep it that way.
i looked at our little local paper today and saw a young man had died.
he was the 20 year old son of jw's that used to be very dear friends.
i noticed that the funeral is to be held at the local funeral home and not at the kingdom hall.
A JW took my dissed uncles' funeral at the crem. He didn't do the typical JW stuff. Heaps of JW rellies and friends there.
Some of you seem to live in another world when it comes to treatment of DF and DA friends and family. It makes me wonder if some are being a little over-dramatical.
for those who have been out for a while, was there anything special about the very last meeting you attended (excluding memorials)?
was there anything incredibly memorable about it?
No.
No theatrics, just didn't bother going back.
.
was there anything in particular that drove you nuts at the kingdom hall ??
?
When the Sunday speaker didn't show up and some inconsiderate bastard offers to fill in.
.
when you were still faithful to the borg, did you shun family or other people, because of the watchtower ???.
when you look back now, what goes through your mind ??
I think this shunning thing must vary from cong to cong, perhaps even country to country. I don't recall being told to shun anyone before I got out. The official word seems to me to just be ''avoid talking about spiritual matters". I have never been shunned by JW family or friends. Maybe this is because I am seen as a 'lost sheep' rather than an apostate.
A cousin of mine has been DFd, but is not shunned by any of my JW family members and is always made very welcome when he puts in an appearance.
on august 27, 2003 mars will be closest to earth than at any other time in recorded history.
it will be at 34,646,418 miles away from earth.. mars went retrograde on july 30,2003 to september 28,2003. mars is the warrior planet.
he represents applied energy in your birthcharts.
Another nice clear night tonight. Last night Mars chased the moon across the sky, tonight the moon is chasing Mars.
is it my imagination or do some witnesses overthink things a bit too much?
although this is most likely meant as a joke, it well illustrates jw thinking on a lot of matters.

Right, that's it then. Evil, peeing, fornicating little bastard has to go.
Off with his head
